#Holidays - Easter

Hi everyone!
Today I'm writing about this adorable holiday - Easter :)

The first day connected with Easter is Pancake Day, also known as Shrove Thursday. On this day people eat pancakes and organise pancake competitions. One of them is a pancake race where women with frying pans have to run fast and toss pancakes at the same time. Pancake Day is the last chance for some fun before Lent begins.

Palm Sunday reminds us of the day when Christ rode into Jerusalem on a donkey and people greeted Him with palms leaves. On this day Holy Week begins.

Maundy Thursday is the day of the Last Supper.

Good Friday
is the day of Christ's death on the cross. The traditional food on this day is the hot cross bun - a sweet cake with a cross on top. Good Friday is a day of mourning in church.

Easter Eve
is the day when Christ lay in His grave.

Finally, on Easter Sunday we celebrate Christ's Resurrection.

There are a lot of Easter symbols. The most important one is an egg. It's a symbol of new life. Some people dye eggs, others organise egg games, for example 'egg hunt' or 'egg-knocking'.

Rabbits
, due to their fecund nature, have always been a symbol of fertility. In the UK children believe that if they are good, the Easter Bunny will leave chocolate eggs for them.

Another Easter symbol is a lamb, which reminds us of Christ's sacrifice on the cross.
