Heyyy!
Today I'm writing a post about my Polish Christmas celebrations ππ
A few days before Christmas my family started decorating our house with numerous Christmas decorations. We used aromatic candles, angels, stars, cute owls, reindeer... etc. π Everything looked fantastic! π

Also, we prepared gifts for each other. It gave lots of fun! Buying presents for family really made me happy π

During packing gifts from me I was excited about it and I couldn't wait to put all of the presents under our Christmas tree! |
24th December
Christmas Eve is the most important day of Christmas for Polish people. We celebrate the Birth of Jesus. I spent this day with my closest family - with my parents and my brother. In the evening we decorated our Christmas tree π Unfortunately it isn't natural - it's artificial... But it looks lovely with our gorgeous baubles! π

This is my favourite bauble! Aww, isn't this snowman cute??! |
After decorating the tree we put all the gifts under it π There were a LOT of presents! *unfortunately I haven't got a photo...* Then, we laid the table. It had a white tablecloth with some hay under it. The hay reminds us of Jesus and where He was born. There was also an extra plate in case someone comes unexpectedly. About 8 we started our supper. At first we read a fragment of the Bible. Next we shared a Christmas wafer and expressed good wishes. Later we started eating π΄ On the 24th Polish people don't eat meat but we eat fish. Our first meal was borsh. We also ate sauerkraut with beans and mushrooms, herrings, cod or dumplings with cabbage and mushrooms. There were also lots of sweet things - cheesecake, gingerbread and poppy seed cake π° We drank a traditional drink made from dried fruit π΅ It is the Polish tradition that everybody must try every dish π After eating, my family sang Christmas carols πΆ We also opened all the presents ππ I got lots of gifts and I liked all of them π *maybe I'll write a post about my gifts... hmmm... maybe, but I'm not sure... let's wait... haha* Polish people go to church to Midnight Mass at midnight. This year I didn't go but I went last year. It was great!

This day we met our family. It was nice to spent time with people who we don't see everyday π We ate solemn dinner. In the evening I, my parents and my brother watched a film "Heaven is for real" π It was awesome! I really recommend it, it's worth watching πThis day was cool and very familial π

I also spent the second day of Christmas with my closest family. We had delicious breakfast and we went for a walk to enjoy sunny weather π We were on the cemetery and then we went to the church to a mass. In the evening we watched TV and spent time together in a nice atmosphere π
I hope you enjoyed this post π

Aww I loved hearing about these lovely Christmas memories, Ann! <3 The pictures you shared are wonderful. Buying presents for loved ones is such a beautiful holiday tradition, and I agree, the snowman bauble is so cute! We have an artificial tree, as well, but I don't think that takes away from the festivities of the season. I'd love to have a real tree at least once, though. Hopefully one year! The Christmas Eve dinner you shared with your family sounds delicious. Also, I'd love to read a post on what you received for Christmas, if you'd like to share that! Loved reading this post, Ann xx
ReplyDeleteAww, thank you so so much for your lovely comment!! ♥ Glad you like the photos! We had a real tree in the past and its smell was great! But artficial one is... maybe more practical and just cheaper? That's why lots of people have it. Maybe I'll write a post about my Christmas gifts :) Thank you for reading!! ♥
